The Asia Council for Small Business (ACSB) is a regional council of affiliates and chapters of the International Council for Small Business (ICSB) in the Asia-Pacific region. Our mission is to streamline programming for SMEs. Members of ACSB include ICSB Korea, ICSB China-Mainland, ICSB R.O.C. Taiwan, SEAANZ, ICSB Singapore, ICSB Malaysia and more.
Each year, a conference is held at the end of October to address the various aspects associated with supporting the development of a vibrant small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) sector in the Asia-Pacific region. ACSB aims to become a keystone in the industry that fosters unity and communication among its shareholders in order to promote a culture that goes beyond competition and brings forth genuine mutual growth.
As ICSB’s representative in Asia, ACSB functions as a platform for SMEs all throughout the region.
A platform is a system of interacting components, a set of capabilities used by multiple parties in a manner that creates value through design efficiency and flexibility, creates network effects that include connectivity due to a complementary system of goods and services, and has explicit architectural control points influenced by the platform investors.
ACSB serves as an avenue wherin the platform investors, in the form of regional affiliates and members, could interact. ACSB aims to become a keystone that fosters unity and communication among its shareholders in order to promote a culture that goes beyond competition and brings forth genuine mutual growth.
ACSB commenced in 2013 as a collection of ICSB affiliates and chapters in the Asia-Pacific Region with a mission to streamline programming for SMEs across Asia.
Each year, a conference is held at the end of October to address the various aspects associated with supporting the development of a vibrant small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) sector in the Asia-Pacific region.
Enabling the private sector with firms investing, creating jobs and improving productivity is a critical element to sustaining the long-term economic growth of developing countries. Founded in 1955, ICSB was the first international membership organization to promote the growth and development of small businesses worldwide. Refer www.icsb.org.
Governance & Structure
The goal of each ICSB Regional Affiliate Council is to provide long-term strategic plans for membership growth in their regions. Each Affiliate will designate its President to represent it as a non-elected Director on the ICSB Regional Affiliate Council.
The ACSB’s President will be elected to serve a three (3) year term, non-renewable. The Chairman of the ACSB will be elected as a non-President from one of the affiliate members. The ACSB office will include both an Executive Director and an Operations Manager.
Each Regional Affiliate Council is required to hold at least one (1) meeting every year. An annual Regional Affiliate Council Work Plan must be presented to the ICSB Board at the Annual ICSB World Conference. During this meeting, Regional Council Presidents will be asked to present their work plans for the year. All ICSB Regional Affiliate Councils shall subscribe to the mission and goals of the International Council for Small Business.
